Young, old bowl way to boost fun, fitness

AGE is no barrier to playing lawn bowls, says Neville Hatcher.

The 89-year-old bowls secretary for the Dooleys Regents Park Sports Club, says all you need is a willingness to learn and have some fun, along with a pair of flat shoes with no heel.
“Joggers are usually okay,” he said.
“We are always looking for new members.
“We are a very sociable group and we play a friendly game.
“There is no registration fee and it’s only $5 to join the club.”
He says learning to play lawn bowls is wonderful a way to get in some light exercise and to make some new friends.
Having taught plenty of people of all ages how to play the game over the years, Mr Hatcher is also happy to offer some tips for beginners.
