Young can unleash their inner rock star

WOULD your child or teen like to learn all the easy yet classic stage moves and feel like a rock star?

Fusing movement and music and on offer online next week, Generation Pound fitness is a program that combines exercise and interactive activities that gives children and young people new ways to explore movement, embrace creativity and rock out.
Created by music professionals, the drumming program uses ripstix but don’t worry if you don’t have access to these as you can also use chopsticks, toy drumsticks, wooden spoons or plastic water bottles.
The class is hosted by PlayFitStayFit CEO Samantha Mitchell who started teaching the USA-based Generation Pound fitness program when it landed in Australia in 2019.
“It’s super loud, super fun, every move is choreographed and the music is awesome,” she said.
Building confidence, self-esteem, fitness and teamwork, the classes are usually offered on a term basis face to face or online.
To book for the free 4-4.45pm class for five to 12-year-olds on Monday, October 18, or for 12 to 18-year-olds on Tuesday, October 19, go to cumberland.nsw.gov.au and search Generation Pound fitness or call Samantha on 0452 389 847.
