Witness hunt over stabbing

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in the leg in Guildford on Saturday morning.

Emergency services called to O’Neill Street at 6.30am, found a 34-year-old man with an injury to his leg.
Cumberland Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or any other information to come forward.

Officers ‘kicked, bitten’
TWO police officers were allegedly kicked and one bitten on the wrist while arresting a teenager in Granville on Saturday.
Police were called to Louis Street and spoke with an 18-year-old man after concerns were raised about the welfare of a resident, however it’s alleged he became violent and there was a struggle.
The officers were able to subdue the man and he was taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment, where he remains.
Both officers were also treated at the hospital and have since been released, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

Four escape kitchen fire
FOUR people escaped to safety after a fire broke out in their Auburn home at 4.45am on Friday.
A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue NSW said no-one was injured at the Harrow Street unit block and firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area.
He said while the cause of this fire was yet to be determined, leaving cooking unattended is the leading cause of house fires in NSW.

Sexually touching child
A FORMER Berala foster carer has been charged following an investigation into the alleged sexual touching of a young girl in his care last year.
In April this year, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad after extensive investigations, arrested a 54-year-old man and charged him with five counts of intentionally sexually touch child (between 10 and 16 years).
Police will allege in court that the man sexually touched the girl – then aged between 12 and 13 – on several occasions while in his care in 2019.
