Who must get tested

IN the past four weeks, 31 cases of Covid-19 were detected in Cumberland, including one from an unknown source, with a total of 16,738 tests carried out.

NSW Health now says anyone living or working in the local government area, along with a number of other Western Sydney council areas, should get tested immediately if they have even the mildest flu-like symptoms, such as a runny nose or scratchy throat.
Statewide, 14 new cases were detected in 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday, August 9, although only one of those was locally acquired with no link to other known clusters able to be determined so far.
St Margaret Mary’s Primary in Merrylands reopened on Monday to most students, although some Year 2 students and staff have had to go into self-isolation for 14 days after a positive case of Covid-19 was linked to the school last week.
However on Monday, a student from Our Lady of Mercy College in Parramatta was also reported as having tested positive, shutting the school down for contact tracing and additional cleaning.
Testing sites are available in Auburn and Merrylands, with a free drive-through testing clinic also now open from 8am to 5pm in Merrylands Park, on the corner of Burnett Street and Merrylands Road, with no booking or GP referral required.
Isolation is mandatory for anyone identified as a close contact – not a casual contact – of a confirmed case and anyone directed to undertake a 14-day self-isolation period must stay in isolation for the full time, even if they initially test negative.
