THE Refugee Advice and Casework Service offers free legal advice at the Auburn Centre for Community, 10am-12pm; and on Mondays by appointment. A telephone advice line also operates on Tuesdays, 10-11.30am; call 8355 7227. The service is closed for the holidays from December 20 and will reopen on January 13.

Friday, December 20
GUILDFORD’S Red Cross shop will hold its final trading day for 2019 in the Tom Collins room next to the library, 9am-12pm and reopen in the new year on Thursday, January 16 at 8.30am. Coordinator Cheryl Mould thanked all their customers, donators for their support over the past year and praised the work of the Red Cross volunteers: “We can’t do it without your work. Thank you,” she said.

NOT-for-profit Citizen Advocacy Western Sydney Inc seeks to introduce people with intellectual disabilities to community members. The service is closed for the holidays from today and will reopen on January 13. Details: 9893 8210.

THE Auburn Salvation Army hosts a Community Kitchen serving a two-course lunch, four days a week for $5, or $2.50 for concession card holders, from Tuesday to Friday, 12-1.30pm. The last lunch for 2019 will be served today and the service will reopen on January 14.

Tuesday, December 24
ALL of Cumberland’s Libraries will close at 12pm on Christmas Eve. The Granville, Greystanes, Guildford, Lidcombe and Regents Park libraries will remain closed until January 2. However Auburn, Merrylands and Wentworthville Libraries will all re-open on Friday, December 27, 9.30am-5pm; Monday, December 30, 9.30am-5pm; and Tuesday, December 31, 9.30am-5pm. The libraries will also all be closed on New Year’s Day, January 1.

Sunday, December 29
THE Merrylands RSL Dominoes Club plays each week from 10.45am, with registration at 10.30am. Anyone can join and play four to a table; club members play five rubbers of five games each. Entry is $3, with a first prize of $30 and runner-up of $25. The last meeting for 2019 is today, with games resuming on Sunday, January 5.

MEALS on Wheels Auburn delivers meals for frail aged and people with a disability. The service continues throughout the holiday period, except for Christmas Day. Details: 9897 3832.

AUBURN Diversity Services Inc offers free services for new migrants. At 17 Macquarie Road, ADSi is open 9.30am-4pm, Monday to Friday. The service is closed for the holidays from Christmas Day and will reopen on January 2. Details: 9649 6955.

ASSISTANCE to complete forms, excluding visa applications, is available at the Auburn Centre for Community on Mondays, 9.30am-2.30pm, and the Auburn Library on Tuesdays. Interpreting support available. Details: 8757 9028 or 8757 9060.

A NOT-FOR-PROFIT organisation, Community Wheels Inc provides transport services for residents living in the Parramatta, Holroyd and bordering area of Auburn to destinations within these areas. The service is closed for the holidays from Christmas Eve and will reopen on January 2. Details: 8868 1400.

AUBURN Botanic Gardens are open Monday to Sunday, 9am-5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Native animals are fed daily in the fauna reserve, 10am-2pm.
