Warning to check smoke alarm after home destroyed by blaze

FIRE and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has urged residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms installed in their homes after a house in Auburn was totally destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

FRNSW crews were called to the Carrington Street property to find it already well alight. It took the 30 firefighters several hours to extinguish the fire and protect neighbouring properties.
Firefighters donned breathing apparatus to conduct a search of the premises however no one was inside at the time of the fire.
The house was totally destroyed and there was smoke and heat damage to neighbouring buildings.
