Walk to end family abuse

A MARCH calling for an end to violence against women and children will be held from Lakemba to Parry Park this Friday, November 29.

City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour is calling on everyone in the community to show their support and take part in the ‘No Excuse for Abuse’ walk.
“Any violence against women and children is unacceptable and we, as a community, must make a stand,” he said.
“This annual event is a very public way to do that.”
Deputy Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said it was an important day in the annual calendar to send a strong message that all forms of violence were unacceptable.
“This is a message we should be teaching our kids every day of the year,” he said.
“Nobody should live in a home that’s not safe.”
Participants attending the ‘No Excuse for Abuse’ event will meet on the corner of Gillies Street and Haldon Street in Lakemba from 5pm, for a 6pm start, before walking on to Parry Park on Punchbowl Road about 1.2km away.
