Volunteers needed to help over 65s

ON the hunt for volunteers with green thumbs, Canterbury City Community Centre (4cs) has launched new gardening and social programs for clients who are over 65 in the Bankstown area.

Social Inclusion and Wellness Coordinator Alison Matthews says they are looking for volunteers who enjoy chatting with older people, want to help older people remain independent and are able to volunteer two to three hours a week or fortnight.
“If you have a fully insured car and driver’s licence, we would love to connect you with an older person to take them out and about or for light shopping,” Ms Matthews said.
“If you prefer a spot of gardening, join our team of garden care volunteers.”
