Tips to protect children online

DO you know the difference between online sexual harassment and image-based abuse and how to report online harassment to social media companies?

The eSafety Commissioner is hosting free webinars this month and next for parents and carers of children aged eight to 13 years.
The first, ‘Popular Apps’ webinar is designed for parents and carers and is on offer on Tuesday, August 16, 7.30-8.30pm, and Thursday, August 25, 12.30-1.30pm.
You’ll learn about TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.
It will cover case studies, research and ways of supporting young people to have safe, enjoyable online experiences.
The ‘Online Sexual Harassment and Image-Based Abuse’ webinar is on Monday, September 5, 12.30-1.30pm, and Wednesday, September 7, 7.30-8.30pm.
It will cover how to report image-based abuse (non-consensual sharing of intimate images) to eSafety and when to report to police as well as where to get support if you feel upset or worried about something that has happened online.
