Sword used in armed robbery

A crime scene has been established following an armed robbery at a service station in Lidcombe early today.

Shortly after 3am (Wednesday, July 29), a man entered a service station on Parramatta Road, near Bachell Street, Lidcombe.
While inside the store the man approached the counter and produced a samurai sword from under his shirt.
He threatened the employee while demanding money from the register. The staff member complied and handed over an amount of cash before the armed man ran from the store.
He was seen getting into a vehicle that was parked outside.
The staff member was not hurt during the robbery, and Auburn detectives have now commenced inquiries and would like to speak with anyone who may be able to assist.
