Student scores Japan, Hawaii trip after essay

PADSTOW’S Kathleen Polson is one six school students from across NSW selected to visit historic WWII sites in Japan and Hawaii as part of the ClubsNSW Premier’s WWII Memorial Tour.

Students were encouraged to submit a 1000-word essay which answers the question, ‘Are the lessons of WWII still relevant today?’
The students, who depart tomorrow, will be taken on a guided 11-day tour of historic WWII sites in Hiroshima, Japan and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
State MP for East Hills, Wendy Lindsay, said she was pleased to see a “true local Padstow student” chosen for this tour.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the six selected high school students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the history of World War II,” Ms Lindsay said.
“The attack on Pearl Harbor and atomic bombing of Hiroshima, are two of the most pivotal moments in the Second World War and this exclusive experience of a guided overseas tour will give students an in- depth understanding of some of the most defining moments in World War II history.”
