Catch robbers

TWO men have been charged over the alleged robbery of a woman at gunpoint at Canterbury earlier this month.

The dramatic arrests of the two men follow the alleged robbery of a woman who was walking along Canterbury Road, Canterbury, about 11.30pm on Sunday, July 7.
One of the men was arrested at a home in Canterbury while the other was taken down by heavily armed police on a Leichhardt street.
It will be alleged in court that two unknown men confronted the 24-year-old woman as she crossed the bridge over the Cooks River and threatened her with a handgun, demanding cash.
The men stole her mobile phone, cash and a credit card.
Following extensive inquires, Burwood detectives, assisted by South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, arrested a 21-year-old man at Leichhardt about midday on Tuesday.
The Marrickville man was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with armed robbery with a dangerous weapon in company and three counts of fraud.
Shortly after the arrest, detectives, assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed two search warrants at homes at Canterbury and Marrickville.
During the searches, investigators allegedly seized two replica firearms, a samurai sword, a stolen credit card and various items of clothing.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at the Canterbury home and charged with armed robbery with a dangerous weapon in company and three counts of fraud.
Both men have been refused bail to appear at court today (Wednesday, July 17).
