Magpie men soared higher than eagles

SUNNY Saturday was a day full of footy at Picken Oval with three Men’s divisions playing while the Women’s Premier Division enjoyed a weekend off.

Starting off with the AFL Sydney Masters, the undefeated Magpies side continued their strong run with a 52-30 win over North West Sydney Redbacks.
Matthew Eurell was a stand out for the day kicking a whopping five goals, while Andrew Eurell was named best on, followed by Wayne Wilson, Ali Latife, Matthew Eurell, Matthew Cullen and Bradley Parkes.
The Magpies Under 19s Division Two was due at Picken following the Masters, however Power forfeited the match.
Next up the Men’s Reserve division took the field against East Coast Eagles.
The Pies came out firing and rattled the Eagles, ending the first quarter with a 25-1 lead.
The Eagles fought back, however, the final quarter saw the Magpies dig deep and kick three goals to win, with a final score 50-44. Josh Rozario was best on ground, followed by Ben Polley, Todd Dale, Levi Sands, Daniel Lawrence and Jonathan Nieser.
The last match of the day was the Men’s Premier Division who also faced off against a strong East Coast Eagles side.
As with the Ressies, the Prems Boys came out strong in the first half heading into the break leading 41-16.
Showing determination, they extended their lead in the final quarter to seal the win 61-50. Patrick Wilmot was awarded best on, followed by Joshua Robinson, Tyler Blake, Geordie Gregory, Andrew Eurell and Jacob Bauer.
