New van will double reach of environmental program

NOW that they have a new van, there’s no stopping Reverse Garbage from rolling out its sustainability education program to more schools across the Inner West and beyond.

REVERSE Garbage will be able to double the number of schools it reaches with its education program, thanks to a $35,000 grant from the State Government.

The funding will go towards keeping their new education van on the road.
State MP for Summer Hill, Jo Haylen said Reverse Garbage is an iconic local institution that provides such a valuable service to our community and the environment, and she was incredibly proud to have been able to help.
Education has been a major focus for Reverse Garbage ever since it was established in 1974 by a group of teachers and community workers determined to ease pressure on the environment. Their plan was to divert industrial discards from landfill and reuse those materials in their classrooms – and that is still what Reverse Garbage does today.
Brett Lyon, Education Manager, Reverse Garbage said they are “super excited about all the opportunities we’ll be able to access now that we have a van that will be packed and ready to go to schools and festivals at all times”.
“Last year, we took our reuse message to 16,000 people. I can’t wait to see how many more we can reach now,” he said.
