Sorry about Covid mixup

HEALTH authorities have apologised after additional testing showed that a student at Lidcombe Public School who was initially notified as having Covid-19 on Sunday did not have the virus after all.

The school was closed on Monday for extra cleaning and close contacts of the student were sent into isolation, however a statement released on Tuesday by the Department of Education said that NSW Health had apologised “for any inconvenience or distress this may have caused”.
“NSW Health has advised us that following additional testing this case is negative, meaning this person is not infected with Covid-19,” the statement said.
“NSW Health acknowledges that the response may have adversely impacted you and your family.
“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.”
