Scores Dally M win for being top NRL woman

FORMER Bass High student and Sydney Roosters halfback Raecene McGregor, 24, has been crowned the 2022 NRLW Dally M Medal winner following a dominant season for the Tricolours.

After helping the Roosters clinch the 2021 NRLW Premiership earlier this year, McGregor picked up where she left off in the 2022 campaign – dominating the year with a league-leading, 10 try assists as the Tricolours went undefeated and were minor premiers through the regular season.
No player recorded more line engagements than McGregor, who also finished in the top five players for total line-break assists and kick metres (averaging 193 metres a game).
The Kiwi international is the first Roosters player to win the NRLW Dally M Medal and also took out the Halfback of the Year title in the NRLW Team of the Year.
The former Yagoona resident and Greenacre Tigers player who grew up in a footy loving family – sister Page, 23, plays for St George Illawarra Dragons, Mum Glenys and former NZ player Dad Travis – says she is very excited to have scored both the awards.
“It’s about putting in the extras that you don’t see on the field,” she said.
“Getting to training early, working on areas that you need improvement, eating well, going to the gym and getting enough sleep.”
The Cabramatta Leagues Club green-keeper now has her sights firmly set on the World Cup.
“Page and I our both contenders in the playing line-up and should find out this week if we have won a spot in the team,” she said.
“Then it’s off later this month to take on the world’s best in England.”
