School road to get safety boost

MORE than $300,000 will be spent on upgrades to Hannans Road in Riverwood, to improve road and pedestrian safety.

Federal MP for Banks, David Coleman, said the $330,000 upgrades would go a long way towards improving pedestrian safety on Hannans Road, particularly for the students at Hannans Road Public School that used the crossing.
“Hannans Road has a substantial amount of traffic and it is really important that we do everything we can to improve safety there. It is a known traffic Black Spot in the area, and that’s why we are taking this action,” he said.
The section of Hannans Road between Belmore Road and Karne Street, will receive improvements to the existing pedestrian crossing, as well as the installation of safety fencing along the kerb.
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
