The 25-year-old back rower has impressed everyone at Belmore with his hard running style and ability to play vital minutes in the starting line-up or from the bench.
Smith appeared in 20 matches for the Bulldogs last season and was a vital part of their end of year success.
Bulldogs Chief Executive Andrew Hill saw Smith as a great fit at the club.
“Chris is the sort of competitor that we want here at the club. He adds something every time that he takes the field and he has become a vital part of our forward pack,” he said.
“In recent weeks we have been able to lock up a number of players for the future and Chris is a major part of that strategy to create depth in all the key positions in our squad.
