Principal new nation champ

The principal of Lidcombe Public School, represented NSW at the National Crossfit event which was held in Melbourne during the October school holidays.
Just three people in his division completed the first workout and he said while he went into the competition to win, he was “blown away” by the high standard of those taking part.
“I was ecstatic to win,” he said.
Crossfit combines a wide variety of movements including pull-ups, squats, push-ups, weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing into a timed or scored workout and Mr Lewis admitted that while he doesn’t exactly love the gruelling sport, he has grown to like competing.
“I’ve been sporty all my life,” he said.
“A mate of mine opened a crossfit gym and he wanted me to come along, and I have grown to like it.”
He has also been joined in his workouts by some of his teachers and says that staying fit is also a benefit for students.
“Tired kids do not do well in the classroom, fit and alert kids do well, he said.
Mr Lewis is also representing NSW at an over 50s national cricket competition in Western Australia this week.
