Police out in force in ensure mask compliance

ENSURING that shoppers were complying with Public Health Orders, Cumberland Police visited the Granville and Guildford town centres last week.

Reminding residents that the orders are in place to protect “you and your community”, Detective Acting Inspector Darren Mcardle said they had also conducted community compliance checks in the Merrylands town centre, Stockland Mall and other locations around the command.
“We will continue working with the community to ensure the safety of our residents,” he said.
“Remember that masks are now mandatory in indoor retail shops and when using public transport.”
He said they were “pretty happy” with the number of shoppers complying with health orders to wear face masks in indoor spaces, with just a handful of people needing a reminder.
Investigations are also continuing into an alleged house party held in Guildford on January 5.
Cumberland police issued a $1,000 fine to a 23-year-old Guildford man in relation to the party for allegedly having more than the five visitors presently allowed under public health orders.
