Driver charged after woman hit by car

A man has been charged with dangerous and negligent driving after a woman was hit by a car in Bankstown overnight.
Just after 6pm (Thursday, June 4), emergency services were called to Oxford Avenue, Bankstown, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a Honda CRV.
The pedestrian, a 78-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver, a 31-year-old man, was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene with the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit conducting inquiries.
The driver, from Bankstown, was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm).
