Opposition Leader hears Covid impact at sport clubs

STATE Opposition Leader Chris Minns joined Bankstown MP Tania Mihailuk to hear first-hand about the impacts of Covid-19 on sporting associations and clubs and what can be done to help them.

They chatted to Revesby Workers’ Cricket, the Bankstown District Cricket Association and the Bankstown Sports Athletics Club, some of the many who have been hit hard by the pandemic and been unable to train, compete and fundraise.
“The NSW Government must do everything they can to assist groups with falling registrations due to Covid,” Mr Minn said.
Ms Mihailuk says sport is a big part of many peoples lives in South West Sydney and “after our winter sports took a huge hit with the lockdowns, it’s critical the summer community sports are encouraged to be up and running”.
“We are blessed to have such terrific clubs with enthusiastic volunteers that are keen to kick off training and competitions,” she said.
“Please start registering your kids and support our sporting clubs.”
