Nominate a business for Zero Barriers win

IS your business or service inclusive and accessible?

Nominations are now open for the Zero Barriers Business Excellence Awards 2022, with Roly Poly Educational Childcare in East Terrace, Bankstown, among those leading the way. After being invited to attend a Zero Barriers information session, Roly Poly Director Jaclyn Rigas undertook a disability awareness course to find out more, saying it was a real eye-opener.
“I have a friend in a wheelchair so that is always prominent in my mind and I thought I was across all the issues but was shocked to learn of the problems some people still face,” she said.
“We already offer accessible toilets, ramps, disabled car spot and lifts but I’m making sure we do everything possible now like sound-proofing our rooms with soft furnishings to help our children with autism who have difficulty dealing with noise.
“We’ve also put pads on the bottom of chairs and really just want to make our space as comfortable as possible for everyone. It’s all about education and removing ‘barriers’.”
Business or service award winners will be chosen in the categories of Service and Social Access and Inclusion, Physical Access and Communication and Marketing.
NDIS providers or government-run facilities are ineligible for these awards.
If you would like to nominate your business or know of a business or service that you believe has provided exceptional inclusive services, submit a nomination form from zerobarriers.net.au by 5pm, Friday, May 20.
