Netball training restart for all teams this week

NETBALLERS are ready and waiting to hit the courts even if that means competing in a shorter community season.

Parramatta Auburn Netball Association (PANA) president Vicki Newby says metro league teams have already returned to training under strict restrictions and junior rep teams are expected to restart training from this week, with all teams set to restart training from July 1.
A junior competition could tip off from July 18, with details for the senior competition still being worked out, although when teams do hit the courts, there will be plenty of changes including a ‘get in, train/play and get out’ philosophy, and a requirements to adhere to strict training limits, social distancing and hygiene.
Mrs Newby said PANA’s executive team was working closely with representatives from the Guildford Leagues Knights, Holroyd Hotshots, Newington Phoenix and Regents Park Netball Clubs, to determine exactly what the new community netball season will look like.
“At this stage we are looking at two rounds instead of the normal three. That means 10 games in total, but it could be longer,” she said.
“All our senior players are very eager to come back and I while I know a lot of kids want to come back as soon as they can, there might be some parents who don’t want to bring them back just yet.
“It depends on our members. We are liaising with the clubs and sent out a survey to all our members to see what they want to see in the competition going back.”
