Netball star inspires more to play

THE Women in Sport Roadshow is already proving its effectiveness with Guildford West Public School students keen to sign up to play netball after a visit from GWS Giants player Tilly McDonnell.

Organised by Cumberland Council, the Roadshow provides a safe space for girls to try new sports and engage with positive female role models.
Netball coach and teacher Julie Huynh said junior and senior netball teams as well as students from Years 5 and 6 enjoyed learning netball skills and playing a game together with the Giants star.
“Thank you Tilly and Cumberland Council for this wonderful opportunity,” Julie said.
“It was truly a great day for our students who loved hearing about Tilly’s aspirations and getting her fantastic tips to improve their game.
“There are so many more girls now keen to sign up for netball, it’s great to see their enthusiasm thanks to Tilly.”
