MP makes fun in sun safer with cash for cricket hats

IF anyone knows the importance of sun safety it’s Federal MP for Blaxland, Jason Clare (pictured), who visited a Bankstown Cricket Club evening training session to check out their new wide brim hats.

Mr Clare had a melanoma removed in 2019.
“I spent many years in the sun playing cricket. In the last few years, I learnt about sun safety the hard way,” he said.
The $5,000 for wide brim hats, caps and equipment was jointly funded by Jason Clare’s Blaxland Stronger Communities Fund and Bankstown Sports Cricket Club.
The Stronger Communities program provides grants, between $2,500 and $20,000, to not-for-profit organisations for small capital works projects that improve the local community. Expressions of Interest close this Friday, February 19. For more information, visit jasonclare.com.au.
