MP attends Iftar event at mosque

WITH the onset of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Dawoodi Bohra Community of Sydney hosted an Iftar at the Community Mosque in Auburn on April 17.

They welcomed State Opposition Leader Jodi McKay who spoke at the event along with the State MP for Granville, Julia Finn (pictured) and other leaders and guests.
“As part of the Iftar evening, we started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and hymns recited in the honour of Prophet Muhammad,” a spokesperson said.
“We also showcased our culture, traditions and other features while the children from our community school, presented an informative and entertaining skit.”
Ms Finn said: “Dawoodi Bohra communities are united by a set of centuries-old principles including commitment to the faith; being law-abiding citizens and believing in the value of society, education, hard work and equal rights.
“It was a great honour to be invited to many Iftar celebrations throughout Ramadan this year and in previous years. I thank the families, organisations and mosques that have invited me.”
