This follows the club setting up a Youth Academy earlier this year – the first time in 10 years – and under the leadership of Bowls Development Coordinator Gavin Holburn.
Katie Astley, 17, will represent NSW for the second consecutive year (after playing for Penrith last year), Tom Rich, 17, is debuting for NSW but has already represented NSW against both Victoria and Queensland, and Sam Rich, 14, has been selected in a NSW/Victorian composite side to replace the Northern Territory which lacked numbers.
Still in celebratory mode after the selections were announced last week, Gavin said this was an enormous achievement considering the Youth Academy had only been going this year.
“To already have three juniors competing at national level is wonderful,” he said.
“We have about 10 juniors all up in our Youth Academy but are keen to welcome more and show our support to young people and their families.”

Magic Bowler young selected in NSW side
SPARKLING on the NSW stage, three Merrylands Magic Bowling Club players have been selected to take on the best of the nation in the Junior Blues side in the October 2023 Australian U18 Championships at Sorrento in Western Australia.
