Legends act up for cause

A NIGHT when stars come out to play, guest celebrities and Theatresports impro legends, including Belmore’s John Knowles, are taking to the Enmore Theatre stage this Sunday from 4.30pm without a rehearsal or a script to create comedy magic for a cause.

If you’ve never experienced TheatreSports before, then you’ll see what it’s like to be scared scriptless as 12 teams face crazy comedy challenges and ad-lib their way to glory to be the winner of the coveted Celebrity TheatreSports Cup.
In a series of hilarious games, challenges and comedy skits, from songs and poems to scenes in all styles, teams compete for audience laughs and the judges’ scores.
With this year’s event supporting CanTeen, the charity helping young people impacted by cancer, John said daughter Lulu would be assisting backstage on the night while daughter Lily will be giving a personal perspective during a break in the comedy proceedings on how the charity has helped the family after they recently lost their mother and John’s wife Ronelle to cancer.
“Ronelle was a huge Theatresports fan and would always be the one laughing the loudest in the audience,” John said.
“We are grateful to CanTeen and happy to shine a light on their great work.”
John said the new show would have something for everyone.
“Unlike our previous Cranston Cup challenges that are highly competitive, Sunday’s show will just be about fun and entertainment,” he said.
“It will great to see some of the celebrities winging it for the first time.”
