Kings come out fighting to take first points in NBL Cup

POWERING home to a 94-77 win over the Adelaide 36ers on Sunday night to ensure the Kings took opening points in the NBL Cup competition, Casper Ware has put in another stunning performance.

Scoring 23 points for the game, Ware hit three triples in a row as part of a 19-0 Kings run which blew the game apart in just five minutes in the third quarter.
The turnaround came after Adelaide led Sydney into the second period to grab a 51-48 advantage at intermission.
But the Kings came out fighting right from the start of the second half and held Adelaide to just eight points in the third quarter to establish a 71-59 lead.
Dejan Vasiljevic, who finished the game with 22 points of his own, also became the first Kings rookie in franchise history to score in double figures in his opening eight games.
With nine points and three rebounds, Tom Vodanovich and the returning veteran Daniel Kickert who scored 11 points, were also key on the Kings’ offensive end.
Featuring all nine NBL teams in 18 doubleheaders, with every team playing each other once, the 36 Cup game series has $300,000 in prize money up for grabs, with games counting towards the teams’ overall season record.
The Kings will now do battle with the Perth Wildcats tonight at John Cain Arena in their second game of the NBL Cup.
