Jasmine’s flick fest final win

AUSTRALIA’S hit international smartphone film festival, The SmartFone Flick Fest (SF3), is ready to roll in February, with Revesby’s Jasmine Wastell’s ‘A Letter to a Friend’ one of 25 finalists selected after a record number of SF3 Kids entries.

Shocked and excited to be selected, Jasmine said her entry initially started out as a school project.
“‘A Letter to a Friend’ was made for a Year 10 drama assessment, which really lit my passion for film,” she said.
“I stumbled across SF3 and entered, not thinking that it would go anywhere … but now I’m a finalist and I am absolutely thrilled!”
Legendary Australian filmmaker Phillip Noyce (Rabbit-proof Fence, Heatwave, Bluu Drift) said: “A smart phone is an instant portal to the world.
“These innovators have no fear of technology, no barriers to expressing themselves.
“These are truly our next generation of cinema pioneers … I’m in awe of their films.”
With over $50,000 worth of prizes to be won, including mentorships, classes, memberships, apps, lenses, mics, phones and tablets plus more, winners will be announced on Sunday, February 27, at the Actors Centre Australia in Leichhardt, from 11am.
