‘It’s just like old times’

LIFE after retirement is a world of opportunities – finally there is time to enjoy hobbies and experiences you never had the time for before.

At Blue Hills Lifestyle Village and Manor in Prestons, staff provide an active community lifestyle and care designed to reflect the diverse and changing needs of residents.
“We encourage a social environment so you can make new friends, try new pursuits and take part in special events,” a spokesperson said.
From casual get-togethers and barbecues to organised club activities, card games, shopping trips and cinema dates, the opportunities to mingle are endless.
There are lounge and dining facilities as well as an outdoor barbecue and licensed bar.
To keep you connected, there are library and internet facilities.
The sports-minded can try their skill at indoor bowling or take on all challengers at the dart board or billiards table.
Jim Bradley, 87, moved in about four years ago and says he can’t speak highly enough of the village and staff.
“It’s a wonderful place, all the neighbours are friends; it’s just like the old times when my wife was alive and we were living in the family home,” he said.
“Everything you need is here.”
Likewise, Maie Hansen, who only moved in a month ago, is thrilled with her decision to move to Blue Hills.
“Everyone is so friendly and supportive,” she said.
“I can even walk to the shops from here but there are buses that come all the time.
“I’m very happy, I feel safe and even have my little dog with me plus there’s room for my sisters to visit and stay over.”
