Hunt for players to fill squad across all ages

THE number one sport in Australia and the most popular sport in the world, soccer is the ideal activity to take up this year being non-contact and a great workout for the body and mind.

If you’re looking to start playing or wanting to find a new club, the Holroyd Rangers Soccer Club is looking for all age groups but particularly older players to boost its Over 35s and Over 45s squads.
Becoming a Ranger when he was five-years-old and still playing at 39, Rangers Club President Danny Rizk says the club is like one big, happy family.
“There’s a different vibe at the Rangers since we are so family oriented,” he said.
“We’re all about having fun, keeping fit and growing the sport; soccer is the best way to stay active and enjoy a healthy social life.
“It gets you out of the house and gives you a sense of belonging and purpose.”
Established in 1966 and playing in the Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association, the Rangers fielded 28 teams across all age groups in the shortened winter season last year.
“Five teams made the finals and two teams won their grand final, the All Age Mens Div 5 team and the All Age Ladies Div 2 team,” Rizk said.
“We train at Guildford West Sports ground and registrations for the April winter season kick-off are now open; you can register online at any time or register in person on a Saturday.”
