Homegrown superstar to light up Sydney Fest stage

BASS Hill superstar Casey Donovan is part of the amazing line-up in next year’s Sydney Festival from January 6 to 30.

The youngest-ever Australian Idol winner, Casey’s barn-burning performance of empowerment anthem ‘Proud’ was a fan-favourite in 2020 at Eurovision: Australia Decides, while her BluesDay Tuesday Facebook Live series brought relief to the dark days of lockdown.
Also in demand in the theatre world, she will bring an adaption of BluesDay to the Speakers Corner (corner of College and William streets, Sydney) on Saturday, January 15, from 7.45pm, weaving storytelling around performances of Idol throwbacks, original songs, acclaimed musical theatre numbers and party favourites.
Also part of the Sydney Festival offerings, Bankstown Arts Centre will feature ‘Nexus’, an evening of immersive cultural experiences showcasing the energy and vitality of young creatives from Bankstown and beyond.
On offer from January 13 to 22, ‘Nexus’ is an eclectic mix of installations, exhibitions, music and performances across a nightly 90-minute session.
Performers include Bankstown Poetry Slam participants, street dance crew Hybrid Formz, Juxta Jam, a multi-artform DJ/VJ-led event, and Bindi Bosses, a south Asian fusion arts company blending traditional Indian classical and folk dances with influences from street dances around the world.
