Home, unit parcel theft on rise alert

AUBURN police have warned of an increase across the command in the theft of parcels from outside homes and unit blocks.

With parcel deliveries booming and hundreds being delivered to homes across the area each day, means more opportunities for thieves but Superintendent Danielle Emerton has offered some advice on how to prevent yourself becoming a victim.
“When you make your order, request they are delivered to your local post office or check your mailbox for letters and parcels regularly and be aware if you have valuables arriving,” she said.
“If you live in an high rise apartment you could approach your body corporate to install secure parcel lockers.”
In one of the many incidents, a parcel was stolen from outside a home in Mona Street, Auburn, on Monday, September 27.
The thieves got away with the parcel but police have CCTV footage to help in their search for the culprits.
Anyone with information about this incident or parcel theft, is urged to contact Auburn Police on 9646 8699.
