Gym-goer, parishioner ‘positive’ alert

COMMUNITY transmission is spreading in NSW with health authorities warning that a person who tested positive to the highly contagious Covid-19 virus, used the Anytime Fitness Gym Merrylands on Tuesday, July 14.

Anyone who was at the gym from 9pm to 10.30pm, is being urged to immediately self-isolate for a full 14 days since they were there, and anyone feeling unwell – even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat – is urged to seek immediate testing and not to go to work or catch public transport until they are cleared.
A notice to parents and carers from Delaney College in Granville, has also highlighted a positive Covid-19 test by a parishioner who attended the Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral in Harris Park Church on Wednesday, July 15, at 5.30pm, Thursday, July 16, at 6pm and Friday, July 17, at 1.30pm and 6pm.
NSW Health is advising anyone who went to the church since Wednesday, July 15, and develops any flu-like symptoms, not to attend school and to get tested immediately.
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) chief executive Graeme Loy says ensuring that residents have easy access to testing is a crucial part of preventing the spread of Covid-19 and helping to keep the community safe.
Testing is free and doctor’s referral is not required at a drive-through testing clinic operating in the car park at Stockland Merrylands, although a referral is required by anyone attending the drive-through clinic in the Auburn Community Health Centre car park.
However a referral can be obtained through the adjacent Auburn Hospital emergency department.
