Go4Fun and boost health at same time

☐ Go4Fun is for children aged from 7 to 13.

CHILDREN and their families have the chance to develop healthy habits, boost their fitness and most of all have fun at a free after-school program in Revesby next month.
NSW Health’s Go4Fun program for children aged from 7 to 13 above a healthy weight and their families, makes fitness and healthy eating fun and engaging.
The District’s Health Promotion Director, Mandy Williams, said the program started in Australia in 2013 and supported children to become fitter, healthier and happier.
“We have had fantastic feedback from the participants and it is great to see them finish the program with improvements to their overall health,’’ Ms Williams said.
“The program aims to help children develop healthy habits which they can take into adulthood.
“We also see improved mental health and confidence.
“Go4Fun combines health education with a fun approach and that is why it is so successful.’’
Ms Williams encouraged families to start the new year with a healthy focus and register for Go4Fun, which runs for 10 weeks during school terms.
The program includes games and activities, fun and interactive discussions to improve children’s nutrition, physical activity and self-esteem and practical demonstrations on topics such as healthy foods, label reading and portion size.
It will be held at Max Parker Aquatic Centre, Revesby, on Saturdays, 1-3pm, starting February 1.
