Girl hurt during shooting

A TEENAGE girl was injured by broken glass after shots were fired into a Guildford home on Thursday morning in an attack described by police as “fairly brazen and reckless”.

Police were called to Woodstock Street just after 5am, and Cumberland Police Area Command Crime Manager Detective Inspector Simon Glasser said at least five shots were fired into the home which was occupied by up to a dozen people including eight children.
He said a 17-year-old girl received a minor laceration from broken glass but did not require medical treatment.
“It’s clearly a very dangerous situation involving firearms being shot into a premises that are occupied by children,” he said.
“We are taking it very seriously.
“It was lucky no-one was seriously injured.
“One of the occupants of the premises is known to police and we believe this to be a targeted attack.”
Det Insp Glasser said that while they have not linked this incident to other recent shootings, it was one of the avenues under investigation and he asked anyone with any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. All information is treated in strict confidence.
