Fundraise to create vital space for all

SCRIBBLES and Giggles Lidcombe and South Granville are fundraising to create a Sensory Space that is accessible, inclusive and caters for all needs.

District Inclusion Manager Alicia Judge says the Sensory Space will be connected to each classroom for the children to access when needed and will help them get sensory stimulation, self-regulate and calm down when challenging behaviours arise.
“The space will feature a range of equipment available including a swing, bubble lamp and fidget walls; it will be a space where children can have a break, and return to the classroom routine and programs when possible,” Ms Judge said.
“We have continued our fundraiser through the pandemic and continue to push for our project to come to life.”
Scribbles and Giggles Childcare Centres aims to provide an inclusive learning environment for all children.
“We believe the diversity of children and their families should be welcomed and understood as respecting diversity is important in creating a sense of belonging,” Ms Judge added.
“We ensure that all children are provided with the opportunity to participate in all our programs in a meaningful way, and it is our mission to work through barriers we may face.
“We are privileged to have welcomed over 30 families across our centres with children with additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Global Development Delays, Chromosome Deletions, Vision Impairments, Sensory Processing Disorders and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.”
