Dining Out

Free coffee on offer for healthcare staff

AS a way to thank healthcare workers for their efforts in the Covid pandemic, Berala Kebab House is offering a free coffee to those in uniform the next time they drop in.

Owner Nev Aslan says it’s the least they can do to show their support for those workers doing it the toughest.
“I’ve also had my two vaccine shots, despite some urging me not to have it, and it’s the best decision I have ever made,” he said.
“Some of my friends have now had their shots too and I am encouraging customers to do the same as it’s the only way out of lockdown.”
Missing out on the discounted bulk orders from local nursing homes with residents no longer permitted to ‘order in’ over Covid fears, Nev says business has taken a hit.
‘We are happy that the nursing homes are taking extra precautions as we want our elderly customers to keep as safe as possible,” he said.
“We’ve had many customers say they would love nothing better than to sit down with us and enjoy their coffee; we are all looking forward to lockdown lifting.”
Open seven days from 6am and noticing a shift in takeaway ordering, Nev says there are less customers coming in but many of them are buying for the whole household.
“People will order a few kebabs, snack packs and pizzas in one order now just to take home to the family,” he said.
“We hope everything will be back to normal soon and urge everyone to follow the government rules and get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
