Finn steps aside but says she has done no wrong

STEPPING aside from her role in the NSW Shadow Cabinet, State MP for Granville Julia Finn says she hasn’t done anything wrong.

Ms Finn wrote to Labor Leader Jodi McKay on Friday telling her she was standing down as Labor’s shadow minister for consumer protection until an ALP tribunal dealt with matters flagged in an internal review into allegations of branch stacking which were anonymously made last year.
An investigation into the allegations was led by former Queensland ALP state secretary Evan Moorhead and while a subsequent report allegedly found Ms Finn had breached party rules, no adverse findings made against her.
Last week, the Government successfully moved a censure motion against Ms McKay in State Parliament for standing by Ms Finn and keeping her in the Shadow Cabinet.
“I have asked the NSW ALP’s internal tribunal to urgently consider matters raised about me in an anonymous dossier and in the Moorhead independent review,” Ms Finn said.
“I have asked that any steps required for this to happen be taken.
“I maintain innocence of any wrongdoing as was the finding of the independent review.”
A spokesperson for Ms Finn said she would continue to “work hard for the community” in her role as Granville’s MP and hoped the issue would be resolved quickly.
