Driver testing resuming for aged or priority drivers first

DRIVER testing has resumed in a staged approach.

Service NSW CEO Damon Rees said appointments would be offered to priority customers first, including those who require testing to continue to hold a licence such as aged customers and customers with medical conditions.
“The safety of our staff and customers is our top priority, which is why we are progressively reintroducing driver testing as restrictions ease on Monday,” Mr Rees said.
“Those who booked an appointment during lockdowns are our focus as we reschedule tests.”
Driver testers are required to be fully vaccinated and customers either need to be fully vaccinated or have received a negative result no more than three days before the test.
Face masks, disposable seat covers, hand sanitiser and other personal protective equipment will remain in place.
Mr Rees said Service NSW was experiencing high demand for driver testing due to the impact of Covid restrictions.
“To help ease the backlog, we are recruiting and training additional driver testers to help ease the backlog,” Mr Rees said.
“We are also looking at other ways to increase the number of tests a week across the State, including additional testing centres.”
Available testing times will be increased as restrictions lift in the coming weeks.
Customers who require a driving test to maintain an unrestricted licence can attend a Service NSW Centre or call 13 77 88 to book.
