Double wins for an inspiring teen

A VOLUNTEER kickboxing instructor who raised thousands of dollars last year for lockdown food drives while studying for her HSC at Birrong Girls High, has been announced as the winner of the Inspiration category in the Canterbury Bankstown Youth Awards 2021.

Danielle Rifahi was also announced as a finalist for the Leadership category in the Youth Awards after being named a winner of a Year 12 Trailblazer Award, by Art of Smart, which recognises 50 Year 12 students across NSW and ACT who have overcome personal challenges and used their final year at school to positively impact the community.
Saying she has always had a passion to help others, Danielle, 17, was shocked to learn of her wins and added that although it was nice to get recognition she was not motived by anything other than to see others doing well.
“I’ve had struggles myself that I have had to overcome but they have allowed me to have deep empathy for others doing it tough,” she said.
“I will be studying psychology this year and plan to specialise in forensic psychology to give me a stronger understanding of people so that I can help them to build from their traumas and live life to the fullest.”
