Ms Finn said it was now one month since Premier Gladys Berejiklian first announced the Cumberland LGA as an area of great concern but what had she done about it.
“Merrylands and Guilford are consistently called out as suburbs of concern, but the area has not received its fair and equitable share of resources,” she said.
“Our community is being left behind.
“It feels as if there is a storm across NSW, which is impacting everyone, but the Government has not taken the time to notice that our community is flooding, and we need more support.”
Ms Finn said a commitment was needed from the State Government “to get more support and more resources out here, to get individuals and small businesses through a really testing time”.
NSW Labor is calling on the Government to: Coordinate faster testing for constituents; increase support for contact tracing; open a permanent local vaccination hub; re-introduce venue alerts; and provide economic support for the West and South Western Sydney recovery.
Shadow Minister for Health, Ryan Park, said: “It is extremely concerning to see the disproportionate impact Covid-19 is having on Western Sydney, and yet they are not being provided with the resources to match this.
“Contact tracing, venue alerts and a local vaccination hub could be the difference between this community keeping their head above water or having to deal with more cases,” he said.
‘Don’t leave us behind’ bid
WITH more than 5,000 Covid cases in the last month, Cumberland is being left behind when it comes to the allocation of support services and resources to help cope with the pandemic, says State MP for Granville, Julia Finn.
