Donate food item or gift to brighten battler Christmas

FOR many, Christmas is a wonderful and joyous occasion spent with family and friends, but for some families in need, it can be a very difficult time.

A lot of parents experiencing financial hardship struggle to give their children the Christmas they had hoped for, which is where organisations like the Salvation Army step in.
Every year in December, Salvation Army host food and toy drives to support families who are doing it tough.
This year the entire Bankstown Sports Group has teamed up with respective local Salvation Army Corps to host a ‘Giving Tree’ where customers, staff and suppliers are invited to donate a gift or non-perishable food item, that will make the festive season a little brighter for local families in need in.
Donated gifts must be new and unwrapped toys, books and non-perishable food items, and can be left under the five-metre high Christmas Tree in the Mona Street foyer at Bankstown Sports to go Salvation Army Bankstown, or the nominated tree at each of the following locations; Auburn Tennis Club (to be donated to Salvation Army Auburn);
Birrong Sports (to be donated to Salvation Army Auburn); and The Acres Club (to be donated to Salvation Army Bankstown).
All gifts and donations will be collected by the Salvation Army on Thursday, December 19 and distributed in time for Christmas.
