Community football start in Spring hope

WITH grand finals previously scheduled for Spring, Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA) is in discussions with clubs to determine what the next steps will be but still hoping the season can resume in September.

BDAFA General Manager Leanne Millar says participants are missing their football family and also struggling with no work or community.
“This is a hard time as football brings the community together, giving people hope and support,” she said.
“This is a tough time for everyone.”
Millar said the Olyroos and Matildas campaigns could not have come at a better time.
“Although we are all unable to play, watching the Olympics and our wonderful players represent our country so proudly and successfully has been positive,” she said.
“The Active CB Backyard Olympics challenge has also been shared among our clubs and we have seen some of our youngsters take up the challenge! What a wonderful initiative from Canterbury Bankstown Council to keep all sports engaged.
“As much as being in lockdown is frustrating, the community’s health comes first. Please stay home, get tested if feeling unwell.
“Let’s get this under control, so we can all go back to doing what we love.”
