Child day carer best in nation finalist

CASS family daycare provider in Padstow, Anna (Xiaoling) Min has been named one of 24 educators across NSW and the ACT up for a 2021 National Excellence in Family Day Care Award.

As winning educator in South West Sydney, Anna was a doctor in China before migrating to Australia in 1997 and has worked as a family day carer in her own home for the past nine years.
With 42 children on her waiting list, Anna is licensed to care for four children a day.
She said it was a nice surprise to be nominated and was grateful to CASS staff and the many parents who supported the nomination.
“I feel very proud to have made a difference in so many young lives,” she said.
“It does help having a medical background as I am quick to observe any small changes in behaviour.”
Client parent Jessica agrees, saying: “Anna is a wonderful, caring person but it is great to know she is also a doctor by profession and can give your child that extra support and security when required.”
CASS Senior Executive Officer, Childcare Services, Dorothy Hung, said Anna was definitely one of the not-for-profit group’s shining stars.
“Her whole place is set up like a children’s wonderland with rainbows and playgrounds, I don’t want to leave when I visit,” she said.
“Her results with the education program and the extra language support, not just Chinese, is also very impressive.”
Feeling doubly excited, Dorothy said CASS Family Day Care had also been selected as a finalist for the National Excellence in Family Day Care Award in the ‘Service of the Year’ category, the only service in NSW to receive this honour.
As well as family day care, Campsie-based CASS also provides long day care, parent workshops, senior, disability and settlement services.
Winners will be announced in February.
