Cheers to pubs back on tap

IT’S time to wet your post-lockdown whistle and head to your local for an overdue pint if you haven’t already done so, with Inner West pubs back on tap and planning to ease restrictions further from July 1.

Saying it’s great to be back, Henson Hotel manager Dan Yakimov says they are trading very close to previous business hours and enjoyed an extremely busy weekend.
“It was fantastic to see the locals all come back through the doors,” he said.
“There’s lots of small bars and businesses in Marrickville that have been doing it tough and must be relieved to be back but within the 50-person limits.”
Marrickville Hotel’s Pascale McDonald says even though their size permits them to have only 50 people – and not 150 – in the whole establishment, the hotel was still doing well.
“All the regulars are back and respecting our four square metre rule of social distancing which is great,” she said.
Gladstone Hotel’s Brian McClelland has removed every second poker machine to comply with the Covid-19 restrictions as well as limiting the public bar to 29, sports bar to 43 and the beer garden to 44.
“The first day back was a little stressful getting all the regulations in place,” he said.
“But now it’s wonderful to be back, even with the changes which should ease further next month.”
