Celebrate upgrade wins to Memorial Oval, Rudd Park

BANKSTOWN District Cricket Club (BDCC), Belmore Eagles and Canterbury Football Association players and fans will be the winners with upgrades planned for Memorial Oval Cricket Ground and Rudd Park in Belfield.

Bankstown Sports Club has committed $1.5 million for Stage 1 of the BDCC development master plan, which will focus on the upgrade of the Bankstown Memorial Oval Cricket Ground.
The first stage is the upgrade of the Mark & Steve Waugh Pavilion, with a focus on improving female amenities and disability access, while also ensuring younger community members are protected by updating facilities to ensure underage compliance.
“Bankstown Sports and the Bankstown District Cricket Club have enjoyed a strong association, spanning five decades,” Bankstown Sports Club CEO Mark Condi said.
“Supporting the local community by creating jobs and investing in both local infrastructure and community facilities, is a core priority of Bankstown Sports and this investment is testament to our commitment.”
Key works at Rudd Park will include the construction of a new synthetic field which will be fully accessible for those with disabilities, irrigation and drainage upgrades, and the installation of new lights.
The park is a popular location for sporting groups to train or play matches while residents use it as a recreational open space as part of their active lifestyles.
“The new ground will support all-weather use with a high-quality playing surface,” Mayor Khal Asfour said.
