Celebrate TAFE students’ excellence

A LIDCOMBE TAFE student and two Granville TAFE students have received TAFE NSW Excellence Awards recognising their outstanding achievements.

The awards acknowledge determination, resilience and leadership – identifying those who achieve outstanding academic results, who provide significant contribution to their professions and who exhibit exceptional personal qualities.
Leading the charge is ‘Student of the Year’ Rebecca Healy who was also named Innovative Manufacturing Robotics and Science Student of the Year after completing a Certificate IV in Polymer Technology at Lidcombe TAFE.
“Rebecca was an exceptional student who always produced work to extremely high standards,” a spokesperson said.
“Now, she’s all set to create positive change in the plastic manufacturing industry, recycling plastic waste into useful products.”
Wajeeha Batool is the Career Pathways, Aboriginal Languages and Employability Skills’ Student of the Year.
She completed a Certificate IV in the Tertiary Preparation Certificate at Granville TAFE and gained the highest scores in the state in both Chemistry and Advanced Mathematics – a remarkable achievement.
“Now, she has received an offer from the University of Technology Sydney to study for a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree with a major in Mechatronics, and follow her dream of being an engineer,” the spokesperson said.
Eddie Sarajli was the Infrastructure, Energy and Construction Student of the Year after completing a Diploma of Building Management at Granville TAFE.
“His phenomenal work ethic and dedication saw him overcome personal challenges to complete his Diploma of Building Design to a very high standard,” the spokesperson said.
“Becoming an architect has been a lifelong dream of Eddie’s.
“Now, with this diploma under his belt, he’s all set to follow that dream.”
